What the upcoming football weekend could bring?

In the last seven days, we saw Champions League and Europa League matches and cutout midweek days, ready to be drawn into another weekend full of football excitements. Here are the top five things we will curiously waiting to find out after this football weekend:

Who will fall in Crisis?

At first, in England Premier League the clash for the top table position will be seen at Liverpool where current champions come after they failed to score in Paris against Messi and company in one of the most interesting CL matches. On the other hand, Liverpool drew at Brentford in the last appearance, so another poor result could leave them behind and cut self-confidence which they need if they want to repeat two years old success.

Anyway, one of the sides will be, we can freely say it: in crises after this Saturday’s big match.

Villans could take another huge scalp

Another big thing could happen at Spurs Stadium where Tottenham have to find out a way to get back on the winning track since they have recorded three humiliating defeats in the last three matches after they topped the EPL table after three weeks of competition.

But, on the other side of the pitch will be the team who managed to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford just a week ago. Another failure could be the last huge inexcusable step for Nuno Espirito Santo towards his way out from the hearts of Tottenham supporters.

Without Messi

Similar emotions could occupy the hearts of Barcelona fans since Blaguara face Atletico Madrid this Saturday as the sixth-placed team in the standings. The new era without Messi is the real nightmare and another defeat after a painful 3-0 defeat in the Champions League clash against Benfica means the future in the mid-table positions for the at least first part of the season. On the other hand, Atletico flying high after a huge 1:2 victory against Milano in the Champions League and will give their best to continue the agony of a bitter rival and climb to the top table positions.

City derby in Serie A

At the fourth position, we could put the most interesting clash from Serie A where Torino and Juventus will take a part in another Torino city derby. The sides are points equal sitting at the midtable positions and the winner could grab the chance to get back in the race for Champions League table spots. Juventus supporters couldn’t even imagine a scenario in which their younger fellow brothers are the best football team in town. The last perfect performance against favourable Chelsea brought back hope for the better days for Old Lady in this season.

Individual or team play

Finally, curiosity about performances of the top two World players rising from week to week since their roles never has been under such spotlight as it is these days. Leo Messi scored the first goal for PSG against Man City in CL and another opportunity he will have this Sunday at Rennes. Odds for Messi to score are about 2.08 at Unibet.

At the same time, Cristiano Ronaldo continuously delights Man Utd supporters and with his last goals in the fifth minute of extra time against Villareal bought another package of time for Solskjear to find the right form and avoid individual players quality as a main but uncertain weapon for the upcoming though part of the season. Odds for Cristiano to score another one are 1.80 at WillHill.
