Borussia Dortmund Odds
The other powerhouse team from Germany is settling nicely into their position of runners-up.
With two back-to-back 2nd place finishes behind them, they are establishing themselves as the country’s number two team. That said, their position is not nearly as secure as the champions’. Plenty of teams are hounding to move up on the ladder – even if actually taking the title seems equally unattainable for all of them.
This puts Borussia in a precarious position in terms of outright Bundesliga betting. On one hand, taking the title would be a longshot at odds of around 7.00. On the other hand, a Top 4 Finish and qualification to the Champions League is pretty much a given at this point, with odds of 1.06.
If you can get your hands on a Top 2 Finish market, it might be an interesting option. Otherwise, none of the more widespread betting offers seem particularly attractive.
Borussia Dortmund Key Players
The Black and Yellows are in for another season under Lucien Favre, which isn’t much of a surprise. He brought some much-needed stability to the team.
Most recently, he has been using a straightforward 3-4-3 formation which highlights the importance of the wingers Jadon Sancho and Thorgan Hazard. Achraf Hakimi’s loan term expired before 2020/21, though, leaving the squad without their trademark wingbacks in the midfield.
Thorgan Hazard will still be instrumental in all connecting plays on the left wing, however, while Thomas Meunier of PSG was brought in on the right.
Beyond that, the summer transfer period brought a few updates in the midfield. Emre Can was brought back in as a defensive midfielder from Juventus for a massive €25 million fee. But it was Jude Bellingham from Birmingham who was the most notable recent arrival. The young Englishman will give Favre some flexibility in the central midfield.
Borussia Dortmund Rivalry
Obviously Bayern will be key rival this year, when we are talking about trophies and Der Klassiker will be the games to watch. On the other hand, as much as they hate Bavarians, Schalke will always be the main rival and Revierderby, match between Dortmund and Schalke will also be passionate. Beside Bayern and Schalke, you can say that all other rivals from North Rhine-Westphalia region will bring passion well-known for local rivalries. So, matches against Borussia Monchengladbach (Borussen Derby), Bochum, Duisburg can be tricky for BVB.
