Despite being from the country’s capital and having stronger funding than many better-placed Bundesliga teams, Hertha failed to get any closer to an international campaign last season. The last Europa League they qualified for was in 2017/18, and they’ve been smack in the middle of the table ever since.
A Top 10 Finish bet may be a good idea if you’re able to get good betting odds for it. For example, most online bookies are pricing such a bet at 4.00 at the time we're writing this.
That’s pretty solid for a team who managed to reach the top half in 2 out of the previous 3 seasons. OF course, some other issues might skew the picture a bit. For starters, most analysts are unhappy with coach Bruno Labbadia’s decisions in 2019/20. Many are unconvincing that the Old Lady will be able to attack the upper half.
Hertha Key Players
One way or another, an excess of €23 million was spent to get the squad ready for the 2020/21 season. Interestingly, some of the more high-profile transfers over the summer were actually loans. Mattéo Guendouzi was brought in from Arsenal, for one. He’ll be joining the lethal duo of Krzysztof Piatek and Matheus Cunha at the deep end of the pitch, which has proven to be quite effective so far.
Jhon Córdoba signed on from Koln on a more permanent basis, though his role, for now, remains a mystery. All things considered, though, the new lineup seems particularly strong when it comes to offence.
Finally, Hertha will have their local rivals Union Berlin in the elite and fans of two clubs will once again have their East-West Berlin derby. It is not really a big rivalry, as both teams have different backgrounds, and have met just a few times during history.
Hertha won two titles in the 30’s but that was so long ago that it is hardly of any importance at the moment. In the last 20 years or so, they are mid table Bundesliga club, with rare periods of extraordinary results. They are playing at Olympiastadion with capacity of 75.000, which is rarely full as usually no more than 50.000 will attend games. Therefore, atmosphere in Hertha games is not the frantic one.
