Under 3,5 Goals Predictions
If you truly want to take your online sports betting to the next level, you have to understand that there is no such thing as a “bad” market. Betting selections can be bad in terms of value, but there is nothing wrong with any particular market. The Under 3.5 betting market is occasionally perceived as something you would want to avoid because it is not easy to figure out when it can be useful.
We here at Betting Fellow believe that every market is a tool in a punter’s arsenal – and just like with regular tools, they are only as good as the person using them. With that in mind, we’ve made this Under 3.5 Goals betting guide.
Before we get started, though, you should keep in mind that this market is, for all intents and purposes, a variation on the Under 2.5 Goals formula. 2.5 is the most common line for Over/Under in betting - the “standard” format if you will. As such, we recommend that you check out Betting Fellow’s Under 2.5 Goals page as well.

What Is Under 3.5 Goals Betting?
Defining our terms is the natural first step, so let’s take a look at what Under 3.5 Goals means in betting.
This market is all about correctly predicting the number of goals that will be scored throughout the match. With that, we mean all goals, made by both teams from start to finish. Essentially, as long as this total number of goals does not reach 4, the Under 3.5 Goals bet wins. The good part is that that’s all you’re interested in – you don’t even need to care about who wins.
Now, as mentioned previously, there are a lot of things that you can switch around when it comes to Over/Under football markets. For starters, if you wanted to bet that the number of goals in the match will be higher than 4, you could always simply make an Over 3.5 bet. However, that’s an entirely different market, and its ideals and goals are directly opposite to what we’re talking about in this article. So, if you want to make Over 3.5 bets, visit the page we just linked.
Beyond that, this line of “3.5” goals is adjustable. As we said, the “default” line is usually 2.5, but other options are available as well, such as 1.5 and, in rare cases, even 4.5 (although, this is usually reserved for very rare occasions such as in-play bets on matches which already have several points on the scoreboard).
So, why 3.5? That’ not an actual number of goals you could have in a real football match, right?
Well, yes. If we’re being honest, the “real” line you must not cross is 4, as noted above. The reason it is set to a 3.5 is to be clear about which score wins the bet, and which score loses. For instance, if it were named “Under 4”, people might not be clear about what happens if exactly 4 goals were made. This way, you can always be certain about your wager.
This scoreline is important for one more reason: it means this market is specific to football betting. There are Over/Under markets for other sports, but the lines are different.
Why Bet on Under 3.5 Goals?
The defining feature of this market is already probably clear to you – over 85% of professional football matches end up with fewer than 4 goals. That means that, except for extreme cases like those that can be found in lower-tier leagues, the Under 3.5 goals betting odds will be very short.
This, of course, has its pros and cons. On one hand, statistics and betting theory both support low-odds, “safe” bets. Given a long enough timespan, such bets are generally considered the best way for long-term profits with sports betting.
This idea has been tried and tested by time, but you shouldn’t get carried away with it. Simply put, there is a bottom line of odds you should not cross. For instance, if you were to bet on a 1.13 odds wager, you wouldn’t get any sort of return. And as likely as such a bet is to win, at this point you’re just risking your money for next to nothing. Remember that smart betting is all about risk management. Just like all bets, some have good value, others don’t. Don’t take a bet just because you can almost be sure it will win.
Beyond that, the Under 3.5 betting market has some characteristics you should be aware of before going any further. For starters, it is binary. There are only two possible results – the bet either wins or loses. As a contrast, 1X2 bets have 3 possible outcomes.
As a complete opposite to Over 3.5, the issue with this type of bet is that it can theoretically lose until the very end of the match. Sure, the closer the end is the less likely the teams are to score a notable number of additional goals. But it sometimes just feels good to sit back and relax knowing that your bet won before the game is even finished.
How to Bet on Under 3.5 Goals?
Considering your only options are to either make the bet or not, there aren’t a lot of things you need to be thinking about while making an Under 3.5 bet. Just find the selection you’re interested in, add it to your betting slip, and proceed as you would with any bet.
The trick here is not in making the bet itself, but in finding good Under 3.5 betting opportunities. In other words, it’s all about finding the right teams and the right event. We’ll go more into detail with this point in the following section.
For now, we’ll just point out that due to the simple calculations, low odds, and a lot of options (that is to say, a lot of football games are played every day) this market is suitable for multiples and accumulators. In fact, Under 3.5 Goals accumulators are a common strategy for putting this often-overlooked market to use.
How to Choose Matches to Bet on Under 3.5 Goals?
So, if finding the right selection is the main part of making a good Under 3.5 Goals bet, how would you be able to recognize one? Since you’re aiming for as few goals as possible, you want to find matches between teams with a strong defence. Ideally, though, you also want them to have problems when it comes to scoring as well. To find such teams, you can research several things.
- Most importantly, take a look at how many goals they’ve scored each game on average. This statistic also has the biggest impact on the odds. Generally, you want recent information about matches from the same league you’re trying to bet. Additionally, you can look up head-to-head stats between two teams to get detailed insight into their playstyle and how it interacts with others’.
- You can look up other stats, such as the percentage of games that have ended with a confirmed Over/Under 3.5 or even Over/Under 2.5 market.
- Keep up with team news to find any (un)favourable changes in their lineup. For example, a team whose main goal-getter is injured or on the bench might present a good chance for an Under 3.5 bet. On the other hand, key defensive players might indicate that you should look elsewhere.
- Pay attention to team strategies as well. For example, 4-4-2 is a common relatively defensive formation, as are any formations with 5 players at the backline.
Statistically, the best leagues for Under 3.5 Goals bets are top-tier South American league, a lot of second-tier European leagues and, interestingly enough, the English Premier League.
Looking at smaller leagues is a very common piece of betting advice for finding value. However, this has its limits. If the league is too obscure, you’ll have even more trouble finding reliable information than the bookmakers. At this point, predicting anything would come down to pure luck. From that standpoint, the leagues we just named (Excluding the Premier League) present a nice middle ground.
You’ll also want to look into how motivated the teams are. For once, you’re looking for teams who are not giving their best performance. Whether this is due to a lack of motivation, bad morale, or any other factor is irrelevant – as unintuitive as it might seem, you’re looking for boring matches.
Where to bet on Under 3.5 Goals?
The issue with following ur advice is that not every bookie gives the option of an Under 3.5 bet for every event. This is especially true considering we’re not exactly talking about the most popular events. That means you’ll need a top-rated betting site whose sportsbook includes niche and alternative markets. Choosing a good bookie is important for a multitude of reasons, so we suggest you check out Betting Fellow’s best betting sites page. There’s something for everyone there, whether you’re looking to make Under 3.5 Goals bets or not. To help you with your search, here are some overall decent options.
Under 3.5 Goals Betting Tips
There are some additional pointers we can give you.
For starters, here are some statistics you might want to look up:
- Look for matches in which the teams are more-or-less equal in terms of form and strength. A potential stalemate could mean a winning Under 3.5 Goals bet for you.
- Bad weather and turf conditions usually negatively impact the scoring ability of the players.
- Because the odds are typically so short for this type of bet, you might be forced to combine it with several other wagers. For example, a multiple containing several Under 3.5 selections may be a good idea.
- Things like the Bet Builder functionality certain top online sportsbooks offer can further extend the usefulness and versatility of the Under 3.5 market. Punters who can think creatively are usually rewarded for their efforts.
Under 3.5 Goals Betting Variations
Of course, there are some other ways in which you can use this market merely as a way of increasing betting odds for another, less likely outcome. Considering how much the online betting industry evolves every day, it would be impossible to list all such variations. However, here are some of the more common ones.
- Home/Away Win and Under 3.5. The most basic way of using the idea we just mentioned, but perhaps the most useful one. You can treat this as a typical 1X2 bet, only with increased returns. Like we said – when it comes down to it, most games end with less than 4 goals.
- Under 3.5 and Both Teams to Score. On paper, this kind of offer does not make a lot of sense. I mean, you’re actively predicting that the teams won’t score. As such, we can’t see a lot of ways of using this variation efficiently.
Under 3.5 Goals Verdict
It would be dishonest to say that this market is not a niche one at best. However, going against the grain is another staple of successful bettors. If you’re able to spot things others cannot and use possibilities others do not, the sky is the limit.
Of course, figuring out something new will take a lot of trial and error. You could start with just using Under 3.5 Goals to boost your odds and see how it goes. After all, betting is a form of entertainment, and trying something different is always exciting.
